Hello. I'm going to attempt a short bio here. These things always make me weary for three reasons:
1. I have to overcome the urge to write in the third (s/he) to avoid absurdity
2. I hate writing in the first (I) as it sounds too contrived and occasionally arrogant
3. I have to define myself
With that in mind...

Her name is Mandi Goodier. If you were to attempt to define her practice then you may settle on the tag of 'Art Writer'. Although this is only one of a few definitions you could grant her this is perhaps the one that rounds everything up, onto which she sits most comfortably.

If you were to ask me, I'd say it shifts. Writer, bookish object maker... that lingers, it remains, that is my practice. I have also been called a designer, and an artist.

Currently studying at Goldsmiths University of London for an MFA in Art Writing. A unique course that embraces the written word and actively seeks out its place in the greater artist community. Here her work explores experimentation with form, perception, author - reader relation, and the experiences of all involved.

I like to call it manipulation. I can not alter how these words will form in your head but I can offer an intervention which may change their route, or the way they rest. Just the opening of a book can cause a disruption to the usual process of interpretation. I read around and experiment with the ideas écriture féminine, the body, duality, misogyny, jouissance, erotica, consciousness, pyschogeography/space and the mark.

Mandi is more than willing to communicate with you on just about any topic. For example, you may wish to see her CV, or to enquire about a commission/piece of freelance/collaboration/exhibition. Or you may wish to discuss the book A Lovers Discourse by Roland Barthes. Really, whatever: mandigoodier@gmail.com

Mandi is also a member of Bookmaking and Self Publishing Collective Parlour Press
